The Upshur County Appraisal District (UCAD) in Texas has
begun field appraisal work for 2016. The reappraisals began the week of Aug.
10.
“The district’s re-appraisal plan requires an on-site property inspection at
least once every three years, and the UCAD conducts its reappraisals in
sections,” UCAD Chief Appraiser Sarah Curtis told The Gilmer Mirror. “With so many properties to be seen,
appointments are not made.”
UCAD requires all appraisers carry appropriate identification listing their
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation issued number, and a photo ID which
the district issues. Field appraisers also will have signs on their vehicles
saying “APPRAISER” and giving UCAD’s phone number.
For now, appraisers are only “gathering the individual characteristics,
depreciation and size of properties, not setting a value, while exemption
applications are not available from appraisers, but will be mailed to a
taxpayer upon request,” Curtis said.
