The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) announces a change of policy designed to streamline credential equivalency for business valuation professionals who hold the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) credential.
The highlighted changes, according to the ASA, include:
- After analysis and research into the education hours required to obtain the CFA credential and its rigorous curriculum, the Business Valuation Committee of the American Society of Appraisers determined the CFA credential deserved education equivalency;
- Those holding a CFA credential with five years of full-time business valuation experience now qualify for ASA’s education equivalency;
- Specifically, those qualifying will not be required to take ASA’s BV201 through 204 classes or exams.
To obtain an ASA designation CFAs need to take a Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course (available on line), meet ASA’s ethics requirements, and submit a report for peer review.
Accreditation information is available at appraisers.org.
All professional credentials involve ongoing educational requirements.
