During a special dinner, the Upstate New York Appraisal Institute chapter of Buffalo, N.Y. recognized James Murrett, who will be the national Appraisal Institute’s (AI) 2018 president, for his many years of service to the industry.
Murrett, along with veteran appraiser Mike Robinson, recently were part of a webinar hosted by Valuation Review titled “Train the Trainer.” Murrett’s insight and expertise reaches many subject matters regarding the appraisal profession, including trainees which is a constant hot topic of discussion within the appraisal profession.
Murrett is the executive managing director in the northeast U.S. for Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services and has experience in the appraisal of properties for public, institutional and private clients throughout New York and other parts of the U.S. Murrett also has been a major contributor in appraisal education throughout the United States.
“This past June, the Upstate New York Chapter of the Appraisal Institute honored me at a dinner in recognition of my many years of service to the chapter and my upcoming position as 2018 National President of the AI,” Murrett told Valuation Review. “I have been a chapter president and officer, board member, regional representative and instructor for the chapter dating back to 1990. I will be the first individual from the Upstate Chapter to be the national president.
“This was a great honor to be thought of and recognized by my peers who are also my friends as I continue on my responsibilities as a national officer,” Murrett added. “The members that make up our chapters are the life blood of our organization and I am grateful and appreciative of their support as their national president.”
