The Appraisal Foundation announced Jan. 15 that it is searching for qualified candidates to serve on its board of trustees (BOT). The foundation is looking to fill four at-large trustee seats.
The BOT is the governing body of The Appraisal Foundation and works to promote professionalism and ensure the public trust in the valuation profession. The BOT provides financial support and oversight to the foundation’s three independent boards: the Appraisal Practices Board (APB), the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB), and the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB). The BOT meets twice a year, in the spring and fall. Trustees are reimbursed for travel expenses and are not compensated for their time. The individuals selected for positions on the BOT will serve three-year terms commencing Jan. 1, 2016.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with leadership experience who have an interest in the valuation profession. Trustees have come from a wide array of backgrounds, with individuals from all appraisal disciplines, users of appraisal services, former appraiser regulators, academics, and business leaders selected. At least one of the four trustees chosen for the class of 2016 will be an individual who represents the interests of consumers. When evaluating qualified candidates, people of different gender, geography, ethnicity, appraisal service backgrounds (e.g., lawyers, educators, financial services representatives), and appraisal disciplines (i.e., real property, personal property, business valuation) will be considered.
Completed applications for vacancies on the BOT must be received by April 1.
Application packages for the at-large trustee vacancies are available on The Appraisal Foundation’s website.
