Cushman & Wakefield recently announced Jason Lee and Lance Lawson have joined the Valuation & Advisory Property Tax Agency Group and will operate from the firm’s Austin, Texas office, according to a release.
“Property Tax consulting is in high-demand from our clients as they work to maximize their real estate. Jason and Lance bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our team, and will expand our presence in Texas,” Andrew Thompson, V&A Property Tax lead, said in the release. “Both Jason and Lance are well equipped to provide clients with expert advice to maximize their properties across the range of asset types.”
Cushman & Wakefield’s Property Tax Agency team handles all aspects of property tax administration and management to help minimize property tax obligation, implement strategic property tax planning and reduce administrative burden. The team understands the unique complexities of all property types, including retail, office, industrial, multifamily, hotels and special use properties, and has specialized knowledge of local processes and particular jurisdictional procedures.
“Our unique blend of real estate expertise and property tax strategy allows us to achieve better outcomes than firms that take a one-size-fits-all approach,” Michele Kauffman, V&A’s chief growth officer, said. “Unlike traditional property tax firms, we bring the full strength of a global commercial real estate platform including deep valuation expertise, unmatched data and a national team that thrives on complexity. Jason and Lance’s extensive experience will further enhance our ability to tackle the most challenging property tax matters.”
The team manages the full spectrum of property tax compliance, including assessment appeals, preparing, filing and negotiating assessment appeals, litigation management, property tax forecasting, and annual assessments and tax liability projections.
“Our goal is to support clients with best-in-class property tax management services,” Lawson said. “We manage the complexities of the tax system, so our clients can focus on their business.”
Lee has been working in commercial real estate since 1996 as a tax consultant and commercial real estate appraiser.
Lawson has been a practicing real estate appraisal and consultant since 2004. He is a state Certified General real estate appraiser and a licensed broker.
“The opportunity to join Cushman & Wakefield, and leverage their full suite of real estate services, and their deep connections to property owners and investors is exciting,” Lee said. “We are looking forward to leveraging the Cushman & Wakefield platform to deepen our ties with both new and existing clients.”
